Correlated Nash equilibrium

چکیده
We modify the epistemic conditions for Nash equilibrium only to accommodate Gilboa and Schmeidler’s [Journal of Mathematical Economics, 18 (1989), 141–153] maxmin expected utility preferences, and identify the equilibrium concept in n-player strategic games that characterizes the modified epistemic conditions. The epistemic characterization supports the equilibrium concept as a minimal generalization of Nash equilibrium, in the sense that it deviates from Nash equilibrium only in terms of players’ attitude towards ambiguity. Consequently, comparing it with Nash equilibrium constitutes a ceteris paribus study of the effects of ambiguity on how a game is played. For example, with ambiguity, (beliefs about) action choices are in general correlated.

Fe b 20 09 Is having a unique equilibrium robust ?
We investigate whether having a unique equilibrium (or a given number of equilibria) is robust to perturbation of the payoffs, both for Nash equilibrium and correlated equilibrium. We show that the set of n-player finite games with a unique correlated equilibrium is open, while this is not true of Nash equilibrium for n > 2. The crucial lemma is that a unique correlated equilibrium is a quasi-s...

متن کاملPrivate and Third-Party Randomization in Risk-Sensitive Equilibrium Concepts
We consider risk-sensitive generalizations of Nash and correlated equilibria in noncooperative games. We prove that, except for a class of degenerate games, unless a two-player game has a pure Nash equilibrium, it does not have a risksensitive Nash equilibrium. We also show that every game has a risk-sensitive correlated equilibrium. The striking contrast between these existence results is due ...

متن کاملExchangeable equilibria
The main contribution of this thesis is a new solution concept for symmetric games (of complete information in strategic form), the exchangeable equilibrium. This is an intermediate notion between symmetric Nash and symmetric correlated equilibrium. While a variety of weaker solution concepts than correlated equilibrium and a variety of refinements of Nash equilibrium are known, there is little...
متن کاملGeneral-Sum Games: Correlated Equilibria
This lecture introduces a generalization of Nash equilibrium due to Aumann [1] known as correlated equilibrium, which allows for possible dependencies in strategic choices. A daily example of a correlated equilibrium is a traffic light: a red (green) signal suggests that cars should stop (go), and following each suggestion is of course rational. Following Aumann [2], we present two definitions ...
